SALCOM EPIRB

Is anyone familiar with this New Zealand based EPIRB manufacturer - Sea Air & Land Communications Ltd ?
I have recently purchased a NZ flagged yacht which is currently in the UK and need to reregister the EPIRB but have heard that this maker may not be recognised by the UK authorities and cannot be registered here.
Any info appreciated

Re: SALCOM EPIRB

Have you tried going through the online registration process first?

https://forms.dft.gov.uk/mca-sar-epirb/

...am just guessing that if the Beacon is not recognised as you say then going through the process will confirm it.....

Well, I completed the application - seems it can take 10 weeks to hear back from them so let’s see.....

Re: SALCOM EPIRB

I got an immediate response from UK Coastguard telling me it needs to be reprogrammed so I am back to square one - I did contact Sartec here in the UK who can’t reprogramme this make of EPIRB.
