running a 19v pc monitor on a 13.6v supply??

Some computer monitors are 19v which is a pain if I then have to buy a 12v to 19v converter. I was thinking of trying to get away without and running it straight off my 12v supply which is actually 13.6v.
What do you think, has it a chance of working or might I damage something?.... the voltage would be a clean stable 13.6 volts.

no, wont work. Why not get an inverter? 12 volt to 120 then plug in monitor and your back to 19 volts with little cost.

You can get inexpensive DC/DC converters that work well. We have several of these permanently installed for different uses: Amazon.com: UNIVERSAL LAPTOP CAR AUTO/ADAPTER ACER ASUS IBM GATEWAY DELL SAMSUNG SONY TOSHIBA: Computers & Accessories

The link is just an example - you can find the same ones for less on ebay stores.
