Replacing LED on Raymarine ST6001+ Auto Pilot control head

My control head LED screen for the Auto-Pilot is so fogged up I can't read it. The auto pilot works fine, so I either need to buy a new control head (which I think is discontinued) or replace the LED screen on the existing. Has anybody done that? Was it hard to do? I think the control head is the same for ST6000 and ST6002

Also, maybe some of the newer control heads are "plug and play" with the 6001+. Anybody know?

You mean your LCD Display ! There is a guy on ebay that replaces them .

I did mine a couple months ago, not hard but it was only by re-reading the instructions that I got it right on the third try. must be very gentle taking the layers apart. There are 2 "Elastomere Bands" that hold it in place and make all the contacts, very finicky. Got to make them dust free and follow assembly instructions exactly.

Yes I saw that ad. Of course that involves shipping and out of service time, so I am thinking of biting another bullet and buying a P70s display - it is backwards compatible.

I think you just talked me out of trying it myself. I had looked for a YouTube on it but couldn't find one. You should do one and maybe it will go viral and you can become a YouTube star.
