Pretty sure that it would theoretically
work. The maximum
current spec on the raymarine type 1
linear drive is 15 amps, while the HLD350 says 10 amps. The
wiring is simple--two for the
motor and two for the clutch/solenoid.
However, I wouldn't trust the EV-200 not to burn out before 15 amps.
The HLD is spec'd for a max 10 ton
boat, which is marginal for a Odyssey 42.
If you only need to hand steer for 12 hours when the AP conks out, the HLD 350 and the EV-200 will fit your needs. However, if you want to cross oceans, I would consider going up a size on both the AP and the drive.
