Remote Monitoring System for my sailboat

Looking for a Remote Monitoring System for my 43' Sailboat... Looking for a system that can report some of these items on an hourly basis or daily basis=
• Bilge and water level
• Tank levels
• Temperature (high and low)
• Smoke and fire
• Intrusion, security and motion
• Power and battery level
• Gas leaks
• Humidity
• Location and movement (GPS)
• Equipment start and stop

What Product DO YOU use out there while you are away from your boat long term, and she is still in the water? I want to know what products WORK and which ones are just gimmicks.

Thanks in advance for the Help and advice...

Re: Remote Monitoring System for my sailboat

We have looked at them for years. the best one I found is the Boatnanny, http://www.theboatnanny.com/index.html. I do not kow of a sytem tht maonitors all the things you have listed. If you go to Trawler forum, http://www.trawlerforum.com/forums/ we have discussed many time.

When we leave for a couple of days we have our live aboard neighbors check/watch the boat, notify the marina and have our diesel mechanic go on the boat once a week.

Re: Remote Monitoring System for my sailboat

Recently I installed the Lowes IRIS home security/automation system in our vacation home and am considering the same system for our Gulfstar M53. The sensors used in IRIS may be ideal for monitoring some/most of the things you listed but the IRIS requires an internet connection. I assume you intend to have some kind of internet connectivity with any setup capable of doing these things - my Iris setup communicates with my IPHONE and the computer. Food for thought.

...and the IRIS system has a cellular feature - normally used as a back-up to your internet connection but may function like the Boatnanny device?

I have been using a Yacht Sentinel for about 5 years.
Leave my yacht in Croatia - and it monitors most of that you ask.
I can even send it a txt msg to turn the fridge on and cool the beers prior to my arrival :-)
Good product and great support from the guys here in the UK.

Re: Remote Monitoring System for my sailboat

Hello,

I would like to go ahead and mention our service. WebBoatWatch utilizes satellites along with wireless sensors to monitor bilge level, tank levels, intrusion, temperature, humidity and impact. The notifications are sent to your cell phone, email and web page. Since it is based on satellite our service can be used anywhere in the world.

Please PM me for pricing if you are interested.

Thank you!

Re: Remote Monitoring System for my sailboat

Our website is WebBoatWatch.com. We are completely satellite based which means wherever your boat is located you will be able to monitor it. Also, Boatnanny is cellular based which means you will have to change sim cards in certain areas or not have any communication at all.

Thank you,

Eric

We are planning on going to remote areas of BC Canada, and Alaska. So satillite base would be what we are looking for.

Thanks

Re: Remote Monitoring System for my sailboat

It would work perfectly and everything is self-powered. We have a unit in the Bahamas in use for the exact reason you are looking for service.

Thanks

Eric

Eric-- please post sample reports if what you CAN SEE remotely and tell us what you CANNOT see remotely on the Web Dashboard. Btw-- you have not shared the actual Dashboard on your website or in this Forum-- we would like you to present sample screen shots of what we can expect to see from this product. Not just promises sir... Your consumers here on this forum want to see 'proof in the pudding'...

Look forward to your response.

Re: Remote Monitoring System for my sailboat

I do not see where you all are Able to=
* Controll powering Off/On Devices? (AC, Heater, Lighting)
* Cabin Temperature (actually in degrees- not L,M, H)
* Humidity
* Gas Leak Sensor

Please let us know how your product provides this Data--as I have been reading your website-- and could not find answers to these items.

Thanks!
