Recommendation for 65 watt usb 12 volt plug

I have a mini pc that runs off an 65 watt power supply similar to a laptop that has a usb-c plug from the AC power supply. They sell power bricks that are lithium batteries with usb plugs that can be used to power the pc directly from the power brick but, figured it would be easier to just add a wall plug that connects directly to my 12 volt lithium battery system.

They sell the cigarette lighter type of usb plugs that can be use to do this, but i was hoping to find something a bit more robust and higher quality. Anyone have any leads?

Technically I could just turn on the inverter but thats an additional 2.5 amps of power when its on so would be more efficient running directly from a dedicated connection to 12 volt.

Been experimenting for a while with probably >10 different units. The 45W units are reliable. I haven't found a 65w USB PD that is reliable yet. Good luck.

Thanks, maybe i'll give one of those a try. It only draws 25ish watts at near full power so i would think would work, but I need to research and make sure i wouldn't damage any components inside it with a lower power supply.

For the last 2 years at the Boat Show, I’ve tried to throw money at Blue Sea Systems in hopes that they’ve finally made one. They still haven’t.

Every USB-C PD built in 12v converter I’ve tried has been terrible. We’ve pretty much given up at this point, and just leave the inverter running 24/7.

Not clear : do you want a USB wall socket of 65W? USB is 5V so that would be high amps rated USB outlet going by the usual brand USB sockets.

imho you only need 65W when battery hard recharge and device running. on boat : how often?

Our boat has 230Vac so most stuff people use at home or hotel is 220/110 and will work. What I do is also run a BIG power brick with multiple USB outlets that is also powerful enough to start large diesel motor (or to test 12V large draws at the equipment). The brick charges continuously off the normal USB outlets on vessel, all the time. So full when called upon and can deliver immense Amps if needed. I can try find brand name of that brick that can jump start a 4.5 liter diesel. Actually not that expensive given all its uses.

USB-C when running the PD speed allows the source and consumer to negotiate significantly higher voltages and thus power. The PD spec allows, if both ends support it, up to 120W at 24V or similar. If the supply limits itself to 12V, I think that’s where the power supply limits out at 65W.

But they could also stick with 5V, or negotiate 9V.

To fully implement the PD spec would require a fairly complex Buck/Boost converter, but if you only allow up to 65W you can get away with just a Buck converter.

I’ve had reasonably good luck with these Anker 50w

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They power our MacBook Pros just fine. They definitely don’t like getting wet but what consumer electronics do.
