Re: Reasonable SSB/email starter pack?

I think that my views, based on experience, are consistent with most of the above posts. We have an M802 and an ancient Pactor IIe. We mostly stopped using it for email once we acquired an IridiumGo.

Many people, including me, view these two approaches to long distance communication as different things, at least for voice. The iGo always works (usually great but not always). For voice, the IGo allows discussion with one other user. The radio approach allows for discussions with many other users in nets.

For email, the radio is now a backup only. But we keep our Sailmail subscription because until somewhat recently, Iridium email could only be read via the Iridium. There is now a web-based client to support sending and receiving email via internet connections. Its not the best, but it works.
