Talking raymarine st7000 display head " cloudy "

hi sailors,
My raymarine st7000 display head is cloudy probably due to moisture, and i could barely see the displays. I chanced upon a raymarine st5000 display head which is very reasonably priced, but I am not sure if I can use this to replace my st7000 display head. would appreciate some advise before I shell some hard earned cash. thanks

I have an extra 7000 head somewhere on my sailboat that works perfectly. I replaced it with a 6000 head when I redid my pedestatl. Unfortunately , I won't be on the boat in mid-June. If you still nneed one PM me in late June. I should be in perfect condition as it has been in storage as a spare for 7 years.

You can not replace the ST7000 with a ST5000. The ST5000 is a combined "computer" and display where the ST7000 is a display only.

I'm not sure, but believe there is a tiny vent hole on the back.
Maybe it's plugged up?

hi speciald@ocenss, I was also looking at a 6000 head to replace my 7000 head, If it worked well for your boat, I guess I might go with 6000 rather than the 5000 head .but looking at both these heads they seem to look similar. If things dont work well I might PM you on that 7000 head on June. many Thanks

I had an ST7000 head have the same thing happen. I ended up finding one on Ebay in England for about $100 just like new and works great. So google for a used one or look at Ebay.
