Raymarine ST50 wind display troubles

Hi all, I have a puzzling issue with the wind display. It is loaded with what I assume is condensation. I did read the manual which instructs you to turn the light on to its brightest setting to clear this.

My problem is I can't get any light to come on at all. I think the display is screwy because with this connected within the seatalk network we had all sorts of gremlins and auto helm wouldn't engage.

Can anyone advise some ideas on how to dry this out and determine if its dead without a functional light?

It's relatively easy to open up from the back.
Leave it open for a day or use a hairdryer on low.

Now dry and still dead. Is there anything I can do short of contact Raymarine and replace the display? There are some on eBay but ouch for older models.

Re: Raymarine ST50 wind display troubles

FWIW, the ST60 Plus masthead unitl works with the the ST50 display. A friend was having issues with his ST50 mast head unit which is NLA and, according to Raymarine, not compatible with the ST60 masthead unit. He borrowed my ST60 plus masthead unit and it worked fine with the ST50 display. Not guaranteed, but it's possible that an ST60 display will work with your ST50 mast head unit. Might save you the cost of replacing the masthead unit.

Thanks roverhi! I guess it is worthwhile to at least ask the question.
