Raymarine ST2000 Tiller Autopilot Sticking Main Shaft

So my Raymarine Tiller Autopilot has been making terrible noises lately. (for months)

I have yet to take it apart as I was busy with other projects.

Yesterday though I had to hand steer the last few miles home which is when I usually lower the main etc which means going forward

This thing is years old.

Has anyone repaired one of these or is it maybe just worn out.

I'm about to open it up and see just thought I'd see if anyone has had any luck repairing one of these things.

I have a Simrad as backup but will have to hot wire it or use the plug from the Raymaine as in cut it off and put it on the Simrad

So if anyone else should have this problem this guy's ST2000 failed in the same way.

So for me rather than refabricating a new part, I cut off the plug and will use that on my Simrad TP10 so I can used the same jack I already have installed.

The gears are fine.

It's the bearing retainer.

See video above.
