Raymarine ST-4000 MK2 Autopilot Question

My ST-4000 MK2 Wheel pilot is working fine but has started to make some scratchy noise and has a bit more resistance than usual when you turn the wheel.

Sort of like it needs lubrication. The owners manual says to flush regularly with fresh water which helps but is there anything else that I should be doing.

There is a small flush opening on the back, but is there anyway to clean or lublricate the bearings .. or should I just keep flushing regularly and keep it wet.

How is the belt tension? Check it; if it is too tight exactly what you are describing can happen.

You should carry a spare belt. Do not spray wd40 or white lithium grease, or lanocote or any lubricants in there. Belt could rubbing or one of the wheels could be broken or loose.
