Re: Raymarine SeatalkNG network

Thanks Denis!!

We had the same problem in our Trinidad 37 after we stored our
portable generator below the AP compass on the front cabin...
AP went crazy, we went craAazy... then we discovered our mistake!

So it was our first thought on the new boat, my father came back
with some aluminum tubes that were stored above the compass...

BINGO... lets go for a dockside wizard, everything will be fine...
but no... It did not make any difference and AP remains erratic!

I am not an expert but by reading FAQs on Raymarine forum I could compare my network
with a SeatalkNG network example from their website, and it just doesnt look right.
I get "Drive Stopped" whenever the broken motor connector wiggles out of the socket.
Ignored long enough, followed by "Off Course"

A related question - HELP!

I have a new boat with manufacturer-installed raymarine ng network. It has an axiom MFD and new lighthouse software. Also other instruments and autopilot.

How can I see a diagram of MY network as it has been configured? I really dont want to crawl around tracing wires to learn how the network is hooked up.

Re: Raymarine SeatalkNG network

My RM Chartplotter (Lighthouse 2) lists all devices on the network, firmware versions, and Identifiers. I would be surprised if LH3 doesn't have something similar.

I have the Actisense version - lists all the devices on the network and lets you analyze them - Similar to N2KAnalyzer from Maretron. Both require a PC adapter of their making

I don't know of any software that looks at your network and lets you know what device is connected where on the network or if you have "T" or "manifold" connections.

Re: Raymarine SeatalkNG network

As previously mentioned, you can untangle the blue backbone and eliminate a few of the connections. I made a rough update to your diagram, attached. As I recall, I lead my 12 vdc direct to the ACU (one less STNG connection).

You ask the installer / boat builder to supply one.., or you crawl around.

No, you crawl around. The diagram you want is of your actual installation, not what your installation is supposed to be like.
