Raymarine radar display screen won't illuminate when turned on

Hi all,

I have a 2002 Raymarine model SL72 Plus radar display unit.


1) Appears display screen won't illuminate when turned on for night use.

2) The control Keys do illuminate like manual saids.


I want to know is it easy to replace a lighting element in radar display unit?

Has anybody taken one of these apart before? Or would I be wasting my time trying.


Radar unit works fine.

The fluorescent back light failure is common on my E-series. My assumption is that is also a common failure on your SL series unit.

The repair had been to swap-out the burned illumination circuit board.

Now the repair is to swap from fluorescent to LED.
