Raymarine quantum radar heading sensor

Hi all.

I am (still) looking at radar and now re-considering the Raymarine Quantum (1st gen) as it is compatible with my existing e7 MFD.

Does anyone know if the older generation raymarine heading sensor (fluxgate compass M81190) will be compatible? I dont want to shell out another BOAT unit for a new heading sensor unless I need to. I have asked at the raymarine support forums but had no answer yet.

thanks

Dan

Re: Raymarine quantum radar heading sensor

Hi Dan,

I dont know the answer to that exact question. I have Quantum 2 and Axiom.

Its pretty nice but I am still working it out.

Feel free to come test it out if you want.

Re: Raymarine quantum radar heading sensor

Dan, the single best change you can make to your radar overlays and autopilot is to replace the fluxgate with the solid state compass, which also has rate, roll, pitch and yaw. Its the EV1. HUGE improvement to the AP steering, and the radar. Without it MARPA on the radar is rubbish.
