RAYMARINE AXIOM9 UPDATE

Is it possible to update RAYMARINE AXIOM9 v3.5.40 straight to the latest LH4.7.172 version?

No, you have to go through some incremental updates first. though I don't know specifically the order

Hmmmmm...

Check Current Version and scroll down to Stage 2: Populating the Micro SD Flash Memory Card with the MFD Software

"You are NOT required to update the products software versions sequentially. For example, you can go from v.3.0.40 to v3.1.69."

Be careful upgrading to LH you may loose some features. There is a recent thread in this forum about regretting the upgrade.

You might also have issues with it crashing and lagging with light house 4.7. Especially if you are using navionics charts. You will want to back up your data before you do the upgrades

Is it just the latest 4.7 crashing and lagging? There are so many bug fixes from 3.5 ...

Any idea about the most stable from this list?

Not sure about the "crashing in 4.7" 4.7 has so far been a very stable build. Not keen on a couple of the features, but it runs nice and quick on my Axiom+ 9. problem with the older Axioms is they are less powerful, have fewer CPU cores and less memory.

Re: RAYMARINE AXIOM9 UPDATE

I recommend that you call Raymarine tech support and ask this question. I suspect that you can do a direct upgrade.

We bought a new Axiom Pro 12 RVX in June. It shipped with Lighthouse 3.16.84... I guess it had been sitting on a shelf for a while. It worked well for a couple of months and then began losing the depth reading and was also spontaneously rebooting. Raymarine suggested that we upgrade to the latest version of Lighthouse (4.7.172) and do a factory reset. I was skeptical, and thought I'd be pulling the unit when we lay up for the winter and sending it in to be bench-tested under warranty.

Two weeks ago, I backed up all the data, upgraded the software, and did the factory reset. The unit has been working perfectly ever since.

Raymarine (in their support documentation) recommends going to a lower version first, then upgrading to latest. V3.x to 4.x is different than updating from 3.x to 3.x family. worst thing that happens is the jump from 3.x to 4.x doesn't work. Its basically an android OS so you can always recover.
