Raymarine Axiom Pro 9s freezes

We organised a time and logged in, he found a couple of reasons why GPS would have been slow to connect and changed them.
He suggested a change on some depth/fishfinder settings and also a reset (not factory) to help with the freezing issue. He had also heard of the 'community edits' being switched off to help.

We havent left anchorage yet to test more but will update in a few days as we are leaving Vava'u heading to Ha'apai group soon

Found the procedure online that Raymarine emailed me to wipe the data from an Axiom and Axiom Pro. There are two different procedures.


Pro:
Power on Reset for AXIOM Pro (custhelp.com)


Axiom:
Power on Reset for AXIOM, AXIOM+ and AXIOM XL (custhelp.com)


This fixed my freezing problems. I have a wireless connection to the Quantum 2 and needed to pair the two before restoring settings.

It’s ALL axioms and raymarine keep claiming they have fixed it. Are you using navionics maps ? It doesn’t do it with CMaps . I had to do a downgrade from 4.6 to 4.5 as well as a factory reset because 4.6 would not install on my axiom 7 or my axiom+ 9

I have had two responses from raymarine regarding this. 1.. Downgrade to Lightroom 3 or 2. Buy the latest axiom at $4k

I have tried booth Navionics and new Lighthouse. Same issues. C- map could be interesting.
But with a brand new axiom + 12” $3K in Sweden (a lot of money) separate battery with VictronConnect Dc/Dc and a one year subscription of Navionics (more K of $) i do not want to spend more time and money on this. It just should work. I have the latest FW 4.7.172 there is a lot of new features so downgrade is not an option.
The Swedish archipelago is a bit tricky so a MFD that hangs could be a catastrophe.

You may have bought the axiom + new but that model is a few years old now and is the same spec as it was when they first released it. They won’t say it’s discontinued as they made lots of them to bring the price down for manufacturing and hence you can still get the entire axiom range.

I agree with you that it should work and work flawlessly but that’s why you have the pop up when it first starts that says not for navigation and by clicking on this you agree to our terms and conditions. I suspect the lighthouse charts are the same as navionics as my understanding navionics supplied the code to read there charts.

What needs to happen is a class action law suit really.

I upgraded this year from axiom to axiom+. To get faster cpu, more memory and a better display. Thought that should solve this problems which started already withe old axiom. When it works i think it’s great.

I dont think navionics cooperate with Lighthouse. Garmin baught Navionics and Raymarine had to come with something own.

Have you tested C-map?

I was told by Raymarine that Garmin wrote the software that lighthouse uses to display the maps so I’m going to make an assumption that it’s the same or similar software that loads lighthouse. Yes I have tried CMaps and it loads way faster and does not crash as often.

I don’t know maybe some lawyer could let us know :-)
