Raymarine autopilot

I have a ST6002, X10 course computer with a type 1 rotary drive. The X10 is malfunctioning and I am looking for a workable used replacement since a repair by Ray would not be completed before my cruise.

There don’t seem to be any refurbed X10 around at the moment, so a local tech is telling me an X5 will work, but RM says it is not “recommended.” There are quite a few S1G or S2G out there, but I am not sure if they are compatible or not?

Anyone in the know?

Re: Raymarine autopilot

Using an X-5 you will have to provide a separate 12V clutch control voltage (could be a toggle switch). S-1 series does provide that a clutch control.

The X-5 and S-1 are rated at about 6 amps, but it looks like peak motor loads of 9 to 10 amps is what triggers a drive failure message.

If you can measure the current required to drive your rotary unit might be able to make an intelligent decision about the substitution.

You'll need the S1/S2 control computer along with a compatible control head instrument. The control from tbe X10 is probably not compatible.
