raymarine auto S1G

previously had a raymarine 4000 System with all the auto pilot functions run through the control head. Had issues with it holding course and compass reading all wacky on the rest of the integrated system. Replaced the compass and same issues. I would swing compass and set the heading in the system, but as soon as I exited the calibration mode the compass reading would start to change nonstop, and in no way connected to actual heading.

Decided to upgrade to an S1g pilot computer and 6000 head unit with my original drive unit, new compass, and same rudder sensor. System seems to be setup properly, can get instrument out puts for the pilot across the system but still cant get the compass to hold heading.

Additional i moved the location of the compass from where it had been for 20 years excellent service to another location, to make sure nothing metallic interfearing and got the same 27* of deviation it said was needed when inches away from the batteries, where it had been working fine for 20 years.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Jeff

Re: raymarine auto S1G

27 degrees devivation is really bad. I would move it again.
