Raymarine 4000+ autohelm

I have a the above model

The head will not talk to the wheel drive.

Compass seems to work
Head fires up and seems to work
Wheel drive works if I hard wire power to it

Any ideas before I remove and send to Raymarine?

Can you give us a schematic of you autopilot system?

What course computer do you have?

Have you checked all of your electrical connections?

Put a meter on the output wires from the autohelm. On way will show battery voltage and then negative battery voltage, depending on which way the system thinks you are going. No voltage out means checking the circuit board.

Likely bad solder connections on the four MOSFET driver transistors.
Three connections on each one.
Not too hard to fix if you know how to solder.
