Raymarince Service

Has anyone had good success with repair work to Raymarine auto pilots and or multi function units with shops other than Raymarine?

If so can you pass along a the name and location. Is the cost similar or cheaper?

Re: Raymarince Service

Fletch, You may find a few Raymarine certified repair shops. But even many of those simply ship the units back to Raymarine and you won't save any money on repairs. If it's something as simple as a loose wire, maybe it can be fixed, but Raymarine component parts are not available to electronics service companies so in many cases even if they figure out what needs replacing in the unit, they can't get the parts. Some components like the pumps are not manufactured by Raymarine and can easily be repaired elsewhere. You just need to call around in your area. Chuck

Fletch:

To amplify on what Waterwayguy said, I don't think that there is any electronics repair shop that does component level repair on Raymarine equipment. Come to think of it, there is virtually no piece of consumer electronics where you can get component level repair work done like your local TV shop of 40 years ago used to do.

I just sent my Raymarine C80 chartplotter to Raymarine (through my local dealer) for repair. The flat rate for a complete circuit board replacement is $675 and the dealer said that he sometimes can work with Raymarine to get something easy fixed for less.

I can buy a used one on eBay for $800-950 and a new one for less than $2,000.

Fletch,

I repair autopilots, on a component level. Will send a PM through CF.
