Radar pole height

Hi,

I'm planning on installing a Garhauer radar pole on my Catalina 36 MkII. They offer a 8' pole and a 10' pole.

The two pictures show the sizing for a 8' pole (using wooden doweling). The top of the wood is where the top of the 8' pole would be and the radar mounted. My boat is the one in front with the bimini and boom with stack pack.

I'm thinking that with the 8' pole the radar would be too low and close to the bimini and boom, and thus leaning towards the 10' pole. Would appreciate any input before taking the plunge and buying it.

When I installed my own radar on my 382 Morgan, instructions aid it had to be 11' off the water at a minimum.
