Quick Chain Counter CHC1202M Issues

Hi all,

I have a 10 year old Quick CHC1202M.

It has an unusual fault and I wonder if anyone has a good suggestion or known repair. (They are $663 at Island water world, so I'm sufficiently motivated). Of course, replacement is Quick's suggestion.

When connected to the windlass and powered, it jams the system and causes the windlass to continuously go up.

After isolating, I discover it is only the CHC1202 at fault.

I have stripped the CHC to circuit board level. No obvious flaws. Tested with multimedia across the button component and it is not stuck on. However the LED below "up" is lit up (which displays when the controller is pulling up the anchor).

No other buttons function.

I've tried replacing the battery (no avail) and can find no way of forcing a hard restart.

Any suggestions greatly accepted.

Hi pandw.

I have exactly the same issue. I went one step further and connected it via micro usb (where it works fine). Saddly as soon as 24v are back, up blinking starts even before the board completely loads.

Yes - I replaced it with the new version of the control unit.
And it worked as soon as I installed the new one.
Bit expensive, but easy fix.

Was very afraid that you would say that. Saddly I am arriving a the same conclusion.
