Quantum Radar/Android App

This must be answered somewhere but I haven't found it. Can the Raymarine Quantum Q24C RADAR be displayed on an Android tablet without an MFD? Can it be brought into OpenCPN? I have the radome but only a legacy chartplotter.

At present it can not be used without a suitable MFD as far as I am aware, as I have the same radar and an Axiom Pro running it. Open CPN at present does not connect to that radar (which is a shame as I want the same).

Thanks Dave, I have a friend who claims it can be but he hasn't yet told me how He said they updated their raycontrol app so it can. I'll call them and see if I can get some knowledgeable person I mean, why would they shoot themselves in the foot and sell fewer MFDs?

Hi and no worries and the raycontrol app is quite old and only allows you to connect to a suitable MFD and remotely control that and not bypass it. We use that on an old IPAD in the chart table with the main MFD (that controls the radar etc) in the cockpit in a binnacle.

We have a newish Android tablet and the raycontrol app does not work on that, hence we use an old IPAD 2 with it.
