Pinta: self steering help requested

My 1965 Van Lent is fitted with its original Pinta self steering system. This worked tolerably until a couple of years ago when it became very erratic and unusable. Kind mariners have e mailed me copies of their manuals but my compass unit (original) appears to work differently to those described. Ideally I should like to get the system working again, if this is not possible is there any way of interfacing a modern GPS unit with the existing helm servo motor which still functions correctly? Just to complicate matters I am based in Southern England and the boat is kept near Rome! Any help appreciated! Kilmaine

You might have better luck beating two sticks together....

Good thing about those old turds is they are very serviceable. I bet you could find an old fart that knows the ins and outs of that thing well enough to get it working again.

Or drop a few dollars on a new pilot. It won't last half as long but it'll talk to a GPS.

Hello, I have a pinta auto helm which has stopped working. I don't have a manual or wiring diagram, so am unable to fix it at present. With your manual do you have a wiring diagram at all? Many thanks
