I have an old Datamarine "wind machine" and my anemometer has stopped registering anything but a goose egg, while the directional still works just fine. I did a bit of
research and discovered it's a fairly common problem -- the potentiometer (?), which is about the size of a half dollar, is dead. It's easy to get the unit apart and would be a cinch to fix if only I could find the part. DMI used to sell a
rebuild kit, but no longer. To replace this part, something that would take me about 45 minutes tops, I would pay them $225 - and that's after I've done half the hard part -- getting it disassembled.
Does anyone know where I can find said part? Either a direct replacement or something that will
work as a substitute? Alternately, if anyone knows where to find used Datamarine units, I would be willing to pay something reasonable for a another masthead unit, either to replace the one I have or just to cannibalize
parts.
