Hello I am new ro the forum and discoverd opencpn on sailboat owners and was able to download the new version software but I cannot view charts on my laptop. Sorry but not too savy, could someone tell me where to go for this kind of information.

Still cannot get charts
I tried your suggestion and get a different window mybe a different version. I downloaded the latest 3.0 etc

What country are you located in? Charts need to be downloaded and then added as SCIMITAR indicated above.

Nautical Charts & Pubs

I would start with the RNC type charts, they seem to be easier to use. Once you open up the RNC page, select chart region 13 (yours) and download it.

Once downloaded unzip the folder. When unzip is complete follow Scimitar instructions above.

I found all 28 pages and am working in it, even able to see a chart. I wont bother you guys for awhile this will keep me busy, but if you are so inclined to recommend a hand held GPS please do.
