OneWeb files bankruptcy, leaving only Starlink and Kuiper in global broadband race

"OneWeb, London-based satellite start-up, has filed for bankruptcy protection. The firm, which has been building a network to deliver broadband across the globe, blamed the Covid-19 crisis for its inability to secure new investment. OneWeb issued a statement saying it was laying off most of its staff while it seeks a buyer for the company."

Sad, competition is good. Let's hope either Musk or Bezos succeeds in their endeavour to bring global broadband.

Re: OneWeb files bankruptcy, leaving only Starlink and Kuiper in global broadband rac

Starlink just got a license from the US to fill its constellation. Space-X just landed a multi-billion dollar ISS supply contract from NASA.
Very encouraging for Starlink IMO.

If Starlink goes widely operational I think this will be second to GPS in changing the cruising world. That assumes all us retired Boomers survive CV

Of course, all that bandwidth will be used to send selfies and download cat videos
