Northstar/Navman 8084 GPS with 2kw Radar and heading compass

I am thinking of buying a lightly used 2KW Northstar Radar combined with a Navman 8084 GPS.
Is anyone using this combination and what do they think of it?
Also. Is it possable to hook up an AIS system to this.

Thanks. Jeff

Nice looking unit, which at the right price and for certain purposes could be a good choice. It will display AIS data. "right price" would mean "dirt cheap" given how cheap more modern plotters have become.

Disadvantages are:

No NMEA2000 compatibility. This is a big minus if you ever think you might expand your network beyond what you have now, or upgrade it. You are pretty much locked into proprietary, and very basic, transducers.

Obsolescent and probably not supported.

High power consumption compared to more modern plotters, which use LED displays.

Thanks Dock. Great advice. In your opinion is less than 2 grand Oz, for the lot, "the right sort of money"??
