NMEA Smart speakers

I am looking at adding a speaker to my NMEA2000 backbone.

The alarms that sound off the Raymarine Axiom chart plotter are too quiet to wake me during the night.

Looks like two options:

Yacht Devices YDAB-01 https://www.yachtd.com/news/sound_alarm_module.html

I like the external button and how it can be programmed.

OR

Sticking with Raymarine A80614 https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?id=4871921

No button but can alarm based on whatever you config in the plotter (depth, anchor, temp, MOB etc) (also a bit cheaper)

Thoughts?

BigAl,

Take a look at this. It may work with your MFD.

Re: NMEA Smart speakers

We installed your second linked product: The Raymarine SeaTalkNG Auxiliary Alarm Buzzer (A80614) last year in our Lagoon's main cabin.

Loud, at >85dBa and can be positioned in the best position for you on the boat as it is just a NMEA drop cable connection. Or on a large vessel you can install multiple units.

Alarms are configurable on your Axiom MDF and are prioritized by Severity: Emergency > Warning > Caution, then by Priority, then by Chronological order.
Note: Different alarm types will produce different cadences.

The MDF displays the alarm that is activating on the screen, and you can accept on the screen.

Works well for us.
