New Raymarine type1 AP question installation

I am installing a new autohelm .The installation is on an Alberg 34 skeg rudder.Should the drive be installed horizontal or on the same angle as the rudder post.I Will be installing a new tiller arm to attach the drive to on the post.
The tech doc says it can be installed horizontal or upside down . My concern is the new arm will travel on a radius and that if the drive is not horizontal to the shaft it may bind. Any thought or advice is appreciated
