new Raymarine autopilot does not work in TRACK MODE
My old autopilot broke down, so I bought a new set: Raymarine ACU-400 + EV1 + P70s.
But I kept the following old Raymarine devices: chartplotter RL80C, 2x ST60 (wind and speed+depth), radar and GPS antenna.
ACU-400 + EV1 + P70s are connected via STNG, while the old devices are connected via ST1 and then with STNG via STNG/ST1 converter.
Autopilot works fine in AUTO and WIND WANE mode, but does not want to work in TRACK MODE (message "NO NAVIGATION DATA" is displayed).
All cable connections have been triple checked and are ok. GPS position is in STNG/ST1 network because chartplotter sees position.
Could someone help to solve the problem?
I would be very grateful...

Re: new Raymarine autopilot does not work in TRACK MODE
I don't think that EV-1 is also a GPS antenna. EV-1 is mounted deep in the bowels of the yacht, it doesn't see the sky...
I also made a test - I disconnected the old GPS antenna. The chartplotter didn't see the position then, even though EV-1 was connected

Correct! It is a heading sensor. Sounds like the GPS position is not being transmitted through the converters to the AP. Check the source for GPS data on the AP display/setup

But I have a working GPS antenna that is connected to ST1 and then through a converter to STNG. So the autopilot should see the position. The chartplotter sees the position

Re: new Raymarine autopilot does not work in TRACK MODE
On most systems if you have not directed or set the CP to "Go To" a waypoint the AP will display "no nav data" in track mode.

GO TO a waypoint is active on the chartplotter, so that's not the problem.
The problem is somewhere else...

It doesn't sound like a GPS problem to me. Rather, the chart plotter (MFD) is failing to get the waypoint data to the AP. Check that the MFD is wired to output data, and that the converter can convert it to STNG.

I'm rather sure that it is not a hardware problem but a software problem.
MFD is connected well. But how do I check/see if the converter is converting GO TO commands, or not?

Re: new Raymarine autopilot does not work in TRACK MODE
For TRACK mode to work the AP needs the distance and bearing to the next waypoing, and the cross track error. It may be that your plotter is not putting that data on the network.

Re: new Raymarine autopilot does not work in TRACK MODE
WHat kind of GPS antenna do you have?
From the manual for the Seatalk1-NG converter:
Quote:
4.9 RS125 GPS connection
Important: The GPS connects directly to the SeaTalk connection on the converter. The connection cannot be shared with other devices.

I don't think your old plotter is compatible with thr new kit. I had an old E series 140w. That was not compatible with the ACU-400. I bought an Axiom at the same time I purchased the ACU-400

Re: new Raymarine autopilot does not work in TRACK MODE
A minor detail. You are better off NOT using track mode, as it creates GPS assisted collisions.

How do you work that out? When motoring, rather than sailing it's the obvious choice.
When sailing, steering to the wind vane is best but track is really handy when motoring.

Re: new Raymarine autopilot does not work in TRACK MODE
APs normally do not use gps. They use wpt input - from the plotter.
Your plotter does not send the wpt to the AP, or the AP does not 'collect' (rx) this data.
You can try to connect to the plotter with a laptop and check if the software can see the required sentence in the flow.
Also make 2 x sure the plotter is set to send this specific sentence - most plotters have an option to disable and enable output sentences.
