Navtex via Pactor?

I have uninstalled my dedicated Navtex receiver. My Pactor modem has a Navtex decoder and storage function (amazing how much technology is packed into those things) which I think I would like to use instead.

Anyone have any practical experience? Tips?

I found this:

with a basic description of the functionality.

Re: Navtex via Pactor?

It seems pretty straightforward -- you enable the function using the specified command line commands. Whenever the the radio is tuned to 518khz and the right mode is selected, and the modem is on, it will store Navtex messages as they come in. You then retrieve them with other command line commands. Looks like maximum stored messages 100, which is more than enough.

Anybody using this? Looks like a great system. The computer doesn't need to be running.
