Navman GPS 1240 reciever PinOUT?

I have a Navman GPS 1240 it just has wires on the end.

Anyone know if this is NMEA0183 and if so, what the wire pinout is?

Wire colors:

- Red
- Brown
- Green
- White
- Yellow
- Bare wire

Thanks

Re: Navman GPS 1240 reciever PinOUT?

Found this on another site. Let Google be your guide.

pin 1 ground
pin 2 power input 7 to 32 volts dc
pin 3 not used
pin 4 NMEA data in (rs232)
pin 5 not used
pin 6 NMEA data out (rs232)
pin 7 not used
pin 8 not used.

Is it valid? Who knows.

Re: Navman GPS 1240 reciever PinOUT?

Understood. Check with Navman site and you will see what would be their standard for what wire does what. Such as RED seems to always be used for POS Voltage while BLACK is NEG Voltage. The rest can be tested and eliminated as to which wire is sending data to the GPS. So really there is only 4 wires needed. DATA+, DATA-, V+, and V-. Navman should have pin identification. If several units use the same pin identification, then you are almost there.

Again, let Google be your guide. A little research goes a long way.

Again, cannot guarantee this is correct. YOU have to figure it out. I am not responsible if you blow up your Navman 1240.

pin 1 gnd black
pin2 7v to 32v red
pin 3 n/a n/c
pin 4 GPS NMEA IN brown
pin 5 n/c yellow
pin 6 GPS NMEA OUT green
pin 7 re prog -5v white
pin 8 n/a n/c

Thanks this is working:

Yellow = n/a
Green = RX
Red = 7v to 32v
Brown = TX
White = n/a
Bare = Neg
