Recently my 1 yr old 4G radar stopped working my mfd simply says no radar detected. All connections seem OK as far as I can tell. Any ideas?

I have had the same problem at startup with my Zeus MFD and 4G radar. I have no idea what the underlying issue is though I will sometimes get an error message that I've got two screens running different versions. My only other screen is an iPad running GoFree.

I have sometimes been able to get the radar to run by going to one of the radar screens. I've also gotten it to run by simply shutting off and restarting or by restarting after shutting down the wifi on my iPad. So far, it has worked on restart as long as I go to a radar screen to get it running.

I look forward to more instructive answers since it is an irritating gremlin.

Rebooting doesn't seem to help in my case and I only have the one screen....

I dealt with this issue by upgrading the firmware. Before that I would have to reset to default settings to get it to see the radar.

Re: My simrad 4G radar is not detected

I had this problem, from initial instal. It would happen sometimes, but not others. Over several months and much communication with SImrad tech support I'd tried master resets, software updates, even new cables. In the end I had a simrad tech look it over and it was the Ethernet port on the mfd that was faulty. A new mfd and it's worked since. An expensive fix, even though the mfd itself was covered by warranty.

I just had the same problem. After much troubleshooting over the phone (I'm in the Exumas), Navico sent me a new Radar under warranty. No idea what the problem was.

I have the same problem with my Simrad 3G radar. Also, I am having trouble getting Simrad tech support to reply to my emails. Anyone else having problems with Simrad support?

Try the Navico support line. They build and support the radar.

We had a similar problem with our B&G 4G radar last summer. [No radar detected by MFD- a Zeus Touch 8]

I started bypassing items in the N2K network and isolated the GoFree wireless as the culprit. [Radar was recognized and functioning when GoFree was bypassed...]

Multiple resets of the GoFree changed nothing. Tech support had me send them our GoFree, and a week later we received a new one. The old one had just died, and therefore wasn't passing traffic through the network ports.

We have had no problems since installing the new GoFree [same model and version...]

Lessons learned: process of elimination: try direct connecting the radar to the MFD without any other electronics on the N2K network. If it works, start adding one item at a time to the N2K network until you re-create the issue...

We can only wish it is always this 'simple...'

Cheers!

Your GoFree didn't connect via Ethernet?

Nope. It refused to pass traffic through the ethernet ports, essentially blocking the radar from communicating with the MFD.
