Short Story:
Anyone know what happened to MI Simulators in
England?
Long Story:
A couple of years ago, I stumbled across a company that produced
software to simulate
marine electronics. The name of the company is (was?) MI Simulators.
You "equipped" a
boat,
power or sail, with a number of different pieces of
marine electronics. You then "went boating", playing with/learning about the operation of the electronics while trying not to hit rocks, other
boats and so forth, as you navigated to and fro.
Among the various pieces of
gear I was particularly interested in was the
radar simulator, as know little about the use of
radar on small
boats. What really attracted me was the fact that one of simulation options was the
Furuno 1623, which I just happen to have on my boat!
I downloaded the 30 day trial and set to
learning. It was, quite frankly, amazing to be able to use my radar in the comfort of my den. (I've never been a fan of
learning about
safety items WHEN YOU NEED THEM.)
The demo expired right about the time my
health took a turn for the worse and so I put it aside.
I'm now back and preparing to go sailing again and would like to actually
purchase this
software; it was certainly
cheap enough.
Only I can't; they seem to have disappeared.
Any help
tracking them down would be appreciated.
