Med wide Sim card

Hello all,

I'm going to be crusing in the Med this season and was wondering if anyone has used a Europe wide sim card before?

The idea looks great on paper. Single payment. Good data amount. I'd pop this in a wifi 3G router so all devices have internet on the boat.

Something like this: Europa SIM-Card - Mobiles Internet in Europe, jederzeit, überall - ab

Anyone done the same? Any advice would be amazing.

Regards,
Simon

I thought 3 € per day of usage sounded pretty fair. You don't pay anything on the days you don't use it.

Or is a local sim the way to go you think?

Re: Med wide Sim card

Its unclear if you carry over unused data, texts or calls. If not, then at €90 a month thats pricey, especially as the limits are fairly low.

For occasional use it might be fine

Hi Dave, yep this would be for 'only when needed'. Hoping to find quite a bit of free wifi around.

Re: Med wide Sim card

My experience, only in southern Europe, is that Vodafone is a strong second in most markets. So, if you don't want the hassle when moving from place to place it might be the easiest. If I was going to spend a couple of months in Italy I would probably get a TIM card (have done that several times), in Spain Movistar, not really sure about Greece (been a while). Orange may have better coverage in parts of central Europe.

If you don't want the hassle then get a single provider (and it can be a hassle) and Vodafone is probably a good choice, if you're going to be a while probably better to get a local plan. At least in Italy, don't count on open WiFi, it's technically illegal to offer internet service to unidentified people and can get the person with the open network in trouble.
