Tilting manually, or self-leveling?

Thanks Lars - Uncivilized! About the holes, I just have a natural aversion to the thought of drilling holes of any kind in a
boat or it's mast. As for the mast, it just seems to me to be a compromise of it's strength and integrity. As for the
boat, there's always the concern of a possible leak. Perhaps my concerns are unwarranted, but my boat is a small
racer cruiser, it's
hull and mast, thin and lightweight in comparison with it's larger cruiser cuzins and
blue water yachts. I was just hoping (against hope perhaps) that there might be an alternative out there.
As regards the mounting of the radome, I'm new to
radar and I've only just purchased this unit and the
AIS, not having had time to read the
manuals of either. Consequently, I wasn't aware of the need for tilt although, I was aware that some mounts were gimballed relevant to leveling. It appears it's time to go back to school! I would like to hear from any of you who wish to weigh in on the subject of tilt and levelling of the dome.
As for the stern mounting pole: my vessel motors with an
outboard, I have no inboard
engine. Additionally, I steer with a tiller, I have a split double
backstay adjuster, and I have my ring buoy and life sling mounted on the rails. In brief, the stern and transom already make for very busy bits. Not the least of my concerns being in closer proximity to the radar beam than I would be if the dome were mounted on the mast. Finally, I'm also planning to mount my
solar array off the stern. Since I'm something of a "Plebe", I'll open all of this up for discussion. The floor is open ....
