Low priced Epirbs

It is time to replace the battery in my EPIRB. It is an ACR 32. The local shop wants $260. Ok. It may be time to look into some of $200-300 new units touted in the Florida boat thread.

I haven't been able to find any units near those prices.

Can you provide some links ?

Re: Low priced Epirbs

One other thought, I saw one the other day that said it had a ten yr battery life, if that's true, it may be worth a little more, cause it seems battery life limits is why I end up buying a new one.

$260 is a good price, some brands are much more. It's best to stay with one unit so the registration with NOAA stays simple.

Not wild about having a $12 hr specialist that watched a 45 min video on how to install a $25 battery kit in 15 minutes at that price. The unit has been discontinued.

I'll likely just shop around for a new one. 10yr batt would be nice.
