Loran C unit

Dusty hard to get at shelf in garage or garbage can?

Depends. If it is a unit that picks up the overseas chains, should you ever think of wandering that far afield, then shelve it or sell it to someone who is going.

If it will only pick up US chains then pitch it. It will take a war with some body that has ASat capability or a serious Coronal Mass Ejection to give the DoD the leverage to say that DoHS screwed up by killing the Loran system. It was a disappointment to me when it happened since it was only costing $35M/yr to operate and maintain and recreating the system or something similar will cost $100M's, perhaps more than $1B whenever something finally causes a major GPS outage.

End of whine.

The non US systems are e-loran, which I don't believe is compatible with the old LORAN C

Some receivers were multi-system capable.
