There are a number of companies that make LEDs certified for use in various nav lights.
This is really important because LEDs do not put out "white" light as do incandescents. LEDs put out a couple of discreet colors that may not match the exact color of the lens in the nav fixture, and (has been mentioned previously) this results in very little light getting out or odd colored light being seen.
Thus, it is critically important to get LEDs that are certified for your particular colored fixtures.
This does not apply to white/clear lights, although non-certified marine
LEDs often put out a lot of radio interference
