JRC radar 1000 suggestions

Good afternoon and thanks having me on the forums.

I have a little problem that I'm trying to fix for a friend who has an old JRC 1000 since forever and does not really have the funds to replace it.

Worked fine last year and this year the LCD screen lights up and the radome turns, when i press buttons it beeps and i can put the radome on standby so i know the radome works, but the screen is blank. I can change the brightness but no display.

i have read all kinds of posts about similar probs but everyone seems to have the display showing something ... anyone have a similar issue? I took the covers off looked in side the radome and the display. no loose connections and the units look like new inside.

I never worked on a JRC, but I'll bet it's the ribbon connector that goes from circuit board to the lcd screen. It is not unusual for this connection to fail over time. Google and youtube for information on lcd display repair. I found this problem on an older Furuno radar and was able to get it working again.

Not sure if you resolved your JRC 1000 radar issue but if not, attached is a field service manual. I have a friend that works for JRC in Japan and he was able to track it down and send it to me.
