IridiumGo in luggage

I am flying into St. Maarten soon. I want to bring an Iridium Go, EPIRB, and PLDs in my luggage.

Iridium said I may have trouble bringing the satphone/modem. I have looked at the American Airlines site. I just have to remove the Li batteries and pack separate.

Will immigration and customs balk at my Iridium and EPIRB?

Cheers

i cannot speak about Iridium, and i'm also wondering the same.
But i can confirm i hand carry a EPIRB for international flight as carry on, and while it looked strange, there were no question asked.

If I were you, I'd research the relevant FAA and airline rules, print them off and attached them to your items when you travel. Difficult for them to argue.

Re: IridiumGo in luggage

The TSA site has no info on satellite phones, but they do on EPIRB. It says it is up to the airline. American has no restrictions, it mainly about battery Kwh.

St Maarten is not on the list for satellite restricted phones, N Korea, China, India etc are.
Crossing fingers with 2k of electronics, not my first choice.

Thanks for the feedback.

This is excellent advice. When I flew back to Brazil from Canada with an Engel fridge as luggage, I attached a printed copy of the FAA regulations on transporting gasses (clearly showing the Engel was safe). The box was opened in both Canada and the US (I wasn't present as the luggage was checked through to Brazil) and it was shipped on to the destination. I think the FAA regulations attached was the reason.
