Iridium Phone - How Much Prepaid Airtime to Buy

I have a continuous account with iridium through a sat phone provider. I terminate it for the winter this means my number changes but who cares.

That way a I pay about 30 dollars a month and 1 dollar a minute. I could never make the prepays work as I was always either buying too small ( and hence expensive) or too much and wasting loads of moolah!

Morning. I'm wading my way through the murky world of sat phones, airtime plans, sailDocs etc etc...in prep for our departure to NewCal from Coffs in May.

I was interested in your happy dealings with Goobal Marine Net.
Did you opt for the wiFi router that filters spam/firewall/windows updates etc?
If not, how did you manage this.

Also, what resources did you get via email apart from the Gribs. I've been looking at the sailDocs catalogue, and boy, there's heaps there. In fact, there's heaps on other similar sites as well, and I admit to being confused!
