Iridium Phone Email Software

would like to have opinions and advices on what software to use to send and receive email out of OCENSMail, SailMail or OnSatMail

If you are open to other options, we prefer using UUplus with our Iridium 9575 sat phone. Very capable for all Wx files, written comms, etc.

Depends on what type of Iridium phone you have, this might be an option to access the software.

I would also add— for those using an Iridium GO!— that the recent unlimited data plan offering from SeaTech Systems has an add-on email option for US$20/month.

I will also interject a couple of other considerations for those using sat phones [i.e., not unlimited data]... I believe UUplus is the only service that takes advantage of Iridium's data optimization service RUDICS [this is in addition to any compression provided by the email service...] That makes UUplus quite fast [for file transfers] compared to services that use PPP or other IP protocols. [i.e., UUplus saves us enough sat phone time to more than pay for itself each year...]

Another consideration is some services charge for weather products on a per use basis, so that needs to be factored in as well.

I suspect any of the above listed services will be more than capable of handling a cruiser's sat com needs... One just has to be aware of the trade-offs and realize the per term cost for the email service isn't the only cost...
