price of used
Iridium 9505A is pretty good even when bundled with a new
battery and
charger and as I have some passages planned through the
med this year, it would be nice to have a sat
phone for
emergency use and maybe a couple of
weather report downloads.
What is needed for the 9505A for grib downloads and
email. There looks to be a
serial port adapter for the 9505A and with a
serial to USB cable, the physical connection can be made.
What
software is required (MacOS)?
Is the download "speed" the same as for the newer phones?
It looks like the
Iridium Access point works with the 9505A, so maybe that is a viable option.
My original plan was for more ambitious sailing which would justify spending more on the Iridium Go but I always thought it was not a good option if having to ditch. Maybe it would be good to get he 9505A now and when I can justify the Go, move the 9505A to the grab bag.
