Re: iPhone 13 to have LEO sattelite coms?

Some people seem to believe the rumor, Globalstar stock up 50%.

I have Starlink on my boat, so I have a vague idea. Do you understand that each ground connection (dish) needs a unique identification and will change satellites as they become available? I think Apple will need a different LEO constellation than Starlink.

I don't think anyone was suggesting they would use Starlink. It requires a somewhat large dish for a phone and isn't even approved for mobile operations yet (so if it's on your boat you're only using it at one marina). The rumor was an entirely different system, Globalstar, which seems much more likely as it's already operational and there are already lots of handheld devices that can use it to send sms style messages.

Ok boomer, if you have starlink on your boat, you can’t move it outside of your Marina and maintain a connection. So if you have it, you’re using it stationary. Your dishy mcDishface can’t handle the movement. The sattelites can’t either.

why the saltiness?
he has a starlink on his boat, I suspect he knows better as to how it works

anyway, from the info I have read, a dish will not be required , the Ip13 will operate like a satphone such as an iridium 9575, using the existing antennae.

Then it's not using Starlink, the basic physics of how starlink works preclude a no dish satphone configuration. Simple as that.

No need to be salty with @Networker, your right, but also no need to pretend the clearly incorrect ideas he's posting have any merit.
