Ipad 3 as mobile hotspot

I just got a Verizon Ipad 3 and discovered it can be set up as a mobile hotspot (like a mifi) for no additional charge. At least in the US. This give 4G/LTE speeds to any computer or smartphone on the boat.

You do pay for the data (shared with the data the Ipad uses) of about $10/GB but there is no contract. You can buy data as you need it. Just turn it on under "Settings". It's ready to go.

This may be old news to some but a really pleasant surprise to me.
