Installing class B ais transponder

I am looking for a class B AIS transponder. I have an icom 506 (VHF + AIS receiver). If I assign the same mmsi # to both will the icom 506 ignore the transponder with the same #?

I think the icom is ok.

I had that issue on a Garmin vhf and it did not. But I was able to disable the entire ais funuction on the vhf.
