inexpensive nema to wifi router

I have a Standard Horizon VHF that includes an AIS with nema output. I would like to send this nema signal via wifi to my tablet which is running navionix, There are devices that cost several hundred dollars. Can someone lead me to a cheaper device.

Thanks
Richard

Look at the Yakker by YakBits. Made in Australia and is something like $69 plus shipping. It is tiny and it works great for your application. I had it for several years on our sailboat until I no longer needed it there. Now I am moving it to a small power boat in the exact application you are talking about.

Yakker

I have the "TwinYakker" (2 nmea)... cheap and works great. Yakbitz is a reliable seller.

NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183?
NEMA 2000 is a bit more complicated, hence the price of those devices.

Yes, Yakbitz products only handle NMEA0183 and SeaTalk.

Twin yakker is great if you're dealing with 0183

I have a DMK box you can have for the cost of shipping if you want to try that

Re: inexpensive nema to wifi router

If you like tinkering, have a look at https://github.com/AK-Homberger/NMEA...way-with-ESP32

It takes both NMEA 2000 and 0183 data and makes it available over a wifi gateway. You'd likely have to modify the code to get the specifiic NMEA sentences you're interested in forwarded to wifi

Looks like about $25 in parts.

(Note: I have no affiliation with the creator- i just came across it a year ago when searching for something similar)

Yacht Devices makes one, but be sure it is compatible with the apps you are using.
