INavx chart supplier Fugawi going out of business

Fugawi will no longer be supplying electronic charts for INavx.

I would advise to cancel the iTunes auto renewal for your charts at this time and purchase them directly from INavx when their store gets up and running.

Fugawi does not appear to be operational at this time. INavx will need to issue directions on how chart subscriptions will work as they transition from Fugawi to INavx store.

Currently my subscription charged for Navionics from iTunes is not recognized at Fugawi. I can not download or update the Navionics charts.

Re: INavx chart supplier Fugawi going out of business

Thanks for the head’s up.

I’ve had a number of problems with my chart subscriptions over the last couple of years. I like the iNavx platform, but hate the way they manage charts, and especially dislike the subscription-based approach through this kind of 3rd party. So maybe this will be a good thing.

Re: INavx chart supplier Fugawi going out of business

Found this out last night. It’s not iNavEx Fault, they are just a middleman for the chart distributors. I blame Canada for the way they are handling the CHS chart distribution process.

This ain’t the first time either. Fugawi got the CHS business because they gave it to some one else, who promptly shut doors. IIRC took almost a year for Fugawi to get the go ahead to seek charts as the defunct company still had the rights.

I dread the thought of that happening again. And this is going to hurt iNavEx for sure.

SA also has a related thread that identifies the parent company.

I fired off an email to iNavEx last night, no answer yet.

Re: INavx chart supplier Fugawi going out of business

I’ve been using the Time Zero app for four years along with INavx which I’ve promoted lots on this forum. Will now be using mostly Navionics Platinum + charts on my Raymarine e127 units along with TZ Time Zero on the ipads. The older INavX will remain, but won’t be updated and will see less and less use.

KEN,

How does that address the CHS chart availability?

I don't intend to keep updating the INavX charts via whatever service they eventually have, I don't want to subscribe, I prefer to own the charts. I own the Navionics and TZ charts.

Re: INavx chart supplier Fugawi going out of business

KEN,

I agree. Bit didn’t Navionics just change their model to only sell yearly access? Or is that just for downloads? Too much to keep straight.

I have Navionics cards for my Raymarine MFD, but I want to use them on my small boat with a SH plotter. I can’t put them into OpenCPN, and RM quit selling their package allowing me to use my PC. So I think I’m stuffed.

I’m pretty sure iNavEx would be happy to let you have the charts for free, they just get stuck passing along the publishers criteria.
